Updates to Improve User Experience

In the evening of next Sunday the 22nd we’ll be making updates to GISGRO user interface to make your GISGRO experience smoother.

Especially the surveyor users will see changes in the typical workflow of uploading, completing and sharing the datasets, but there will be some improvements made for the utilizer users as well along with some new features for both user types.

Here’s a sneak peak to the updates. We’re also happy to guide you through the changes personally – simply schedule an online meeting with our expert at the best time suitable for you.

Surveyors

GISGRO is going to look a bit different to surveyor users. The main updates are:

  • Map-based interface: New home page for the surveyor user is the Map View. There will no longer be a separate upload page. Instead, datasets can be dragged and dropped directly to the map or uploading can be done in a separate upload panel in the right-side navigation bar.
  • Smoother navigation: The right-side navigation bar contains the essential functions of the surveyor workflow, minimizing the need for moving between pages. Measurement and bathymetric tools are placed in the upper left navigation.
  • Report preview: Surveyor is able to preview the PDF-report generated by the system before sharing.

Utilizers

Assets
  • Management of assets, issues and notes: Assets, issues (previously repairs) and notes (previously comments) are managed in the right-side navigation panel (previously in layers). More filtering options have been added, providing for example an opportunity to focus on fewer asset categories.
  • Asset description field: Asset description field is now shown in the asset inspection list.
360° Photos
  • Uploading in bulk: Possibility to upload multiple 360° photos at once.
  • Manage visibility in 3D view: Manage the visibility of 360° photos also in the 3D view under layers in the right-side navigation bar.
Issues and Notes (previously Repairs and Comments)
  • Clarified terminology: Repairs are now called issues and comments are called notes. Work orders are now called service requests.
  • Updated navigation: Issues and notes now have their own separate panels in the right-side navigation bar.
3D View
  • Horizontal cross-section: Option to perform horizontal cross-sections in addition to vertical cross-sections.
  • Measurement tools: Adjustments to the user interface and clarifications in terminology.

General

  • Online demo: New GISGRO demo can now be viewed without logging in.
  • QPS integration: QPS Qinsy software users can share survey data online with their clients by uploading the data to GISGRO directly from their menu.

For Surveyors

  • OBJ support: Users may now upload and share datasets in .obj format.
  • Sharing datasets to clients updated: Workflow of sharing dataset(s) to clients has been simplified and the user interface of the uploading page has been updated. Surveyor license users can now share datasets simply by choosing the dataset(s) they want to share, input the receiver’s email and click share. After sharing, the user can track when the shared dataset has been received and accepted by the client. After the client has accepted the dataset(s), the surveyor can no longer view the changes or additions made by the client. The surveyor is still able to make edits to the uploaded dataset and share the edited version again to the client.
  • Preview dataset: Surveyor license users can now preview the completed dataset(s) before sharing to the client. In addition, depth tools have been added to the use of the surveyor before sharing.

For Utilizers

  • Tags to assets: Utilizer license users can now add tags to assets. With tags, the user can more efficiently organize the assets in order to improve the utilization of the data.
  • Mobile view: Utilizer license holders can access their GISGRO account in mobile. In order ensure the usability, the mobile view has few limitations in comparison to desktop version. For example, 3D view, measurement & depth tools have been removed, as the main purpose of the mobile view at this point is utilization of the assets. Try the mobile view by logging in to GISGRO with a mobile device.
  • Maintenance plan update: Scheduled inspections tab is now renamed on the navigation panel. It allows the admin users to set up inspection scheduling and assigning assets to specific inspectors.
  • Observation preview update: The observation preview has been updated for better viewing experience. The users can use arrows on the top to preview all observations in one survey area.
  • Accepting new datasets: Receiving datasets shared by a surveyor has been made even easier.
