Digital platform easies communication in Port of Frederikshavn

Port of Frederikshavn selects GISGRO as digitalisation partner

We are happy to introduce you to the next GISGRO smart port. Port of Frederikshavn is the largest ferry harbour linking continental Europe to Scandinavia and among the ten largest ports in Denmark.

Visualized view of port operations will be based on a map of Port of Frederikshavn, information about assets (bollards, fenders, queues etc.), layers (pipes, electric lines etc.), drone pictures, and 3D models of the seabed, among other things. GISGRO will also integrate AIS data from Danish Maritime Authorities to see the live view of vessels.

Port of Frederikshavn has chosen GISGRO functionalities which work best for their port:

  • Digital twin module
  • Maintenance module
  • Sharable port map

John Holmberg Jørgensen, Head of Maritime Department, describes the collaboration with GISGRO:

Port of Frederikshavn will use the digital twin as a public or shareable port map to inform the port clients for example about rented and unrented warehouses. They also look forward to enhancing their maintenance processes with support of GISGRO’s maintenance module. The system will be easily used on desktop or mobile and it is translated into Danish.

Port of Frederikshavn expects that with GISGRO we can digitize the port. Also, we look forward to manage the port from one platform and not as today where it is necessary to access several different platforms each with their own user interface.

Together with GISGRO, Port of Frederikshavn is in a development phase where we will digitize various assets such as electricity, water and more.

Port of Frederikshavn chose GISGRO, after we had received a thorough demonstration of the program and saw the many possibilities that GISGRO contained. We also think that GISGRO had a very simple user interface, and that we as the Port could add and update many elements ourselves.

GISGRO contains a maintenance plan from which we expect a lot; it is important for us to be able to document and maintain the Port’s many maintenances tasks.

With a public page/sharable port map, it will be easier for the Port to display an overview of available rental properties with their contact information, size and equipment available.

For ships arriving the port it is quick to see the newest bathymetric survey, bollard plan and so on.

It’s an honor to collaborate in digitalizing Port of Frederikshavn and help the port to manage  daily maintenance work by using GISGRO as a digital twin.
